Description: Provides long term financing for the cost of construction or reconstruction of fishing vessels, fisheries facilities, aquacultural facilities and individual fishing quota in the Northwest Halibut/Sablefish and Alaskan Crab Fisheries. The Western Alaska Community Development Quota Share program was recently included, to provide economic development opportunities for Western Alaska Communities. Vessel financing or refinancing that could contribute to overcapitalization by increasing harvesting capacity is prohibited by regulation.
