Forever Wild Program

Forever Wild Program

Program Name: Forever Wild Program

Resource Type: State

State: Alabama, Gulf of Mexico

Agency: Program Source: Grant

Description: Forever Wild has purchased lands for general recreation, nature preserves, additions to Wildlife Management Areas and to State Parks. The results have benefited 10 parks and 17 Wildlife Management Areas, while also creating 220 miles of new recreational trails within 21 new recreation areas and natures preserves. These lands are managed by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) through its various divisions: State Lands, State Parks, and the Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division. The ADCNR is not a General Fund Agency, and relies on revenues from license sales (hunting and fishing) and park visitor fees to support its public service operations
