Description: Marine Fisheries Initiative (MARFIN) programs promote economic and social benefits from marine fishery resources in NOAA’s Southeast region through cooperative efforts. Funding priorities are formulated from recommendations received from non-federal scientific experts and from NOAA Fisheries Service research and operations officials. Approximately $2 million is available in fiscal year 2012 to institutions of higher education, nonprofits, commercial organizations, individuals, state, local and Indian tribal governments.
