The National Working Waterfront Network Welcomes Ashley Bennis as New Chair!

The National Working Waterfront Network is pleased to welcome Ashley Bennis as its new Chair. Ashley has been involved in the Network for several years, managing the Advisory Committee, serving on the Executive Committee (most recently as Vice Chair), and hosting the NWWN podcast. In addition to her work with the NWWN, Ashley coordinates the Clean Coast Texas Collaborative, an initiative of the Texas General Land Office Coastal Management Program’s Coastal Nonpoint Source Pollution program. Her well-rounded career also includes time as an environmental consultant and as a planning specialist with the Community Resilience Collaborative at Texas Sea Grant.

Ashley is excited to take on this new role and work with the executive and advisory committee as Chair. We look forward to the Network thriving under her leadership. Ashley takes over for Kristin Uiterwyk, director of the Urban Harbors Institute at UMass Boston, a long-time Network member who has served as the Interim Chair and Chair for more than three years. We thank Kristin for leading the Network through a period of growth and transition and are pleased that she will continue on as a member of the Executive Committee.

If you’re interested in learning more about leadership roles with the Network, please reach out to shannon.hogan@umb.edu The Network runs on dedicated volunteers and is always looking to expand. We are in the process of adjusting our operating procedures to create new pathways to join committees, including the Executive Committee, and would welcome the opportunity to talk with you about your interests.
